Apples offer both soluble and insoluble fiber. Insoluble fiber such as pectin helps prevent cholesterol build up in the lining of the arteries and help prevent arteriosclerosis and heart disease. The insoluble fiber provide bulk and has water retention ability that cleanses and move food quickly through the digestive tract. It is a good source of vitamins C. Apples are a good source of Serotonin and is a mood enhancer at best.

Apricot - This velvety orange fruit that  are in season in the US between May and August are soft, sweet and has a tartness range in between a plum and a peach. Although it is not too juicy it is loaded with beta carotene that prevents LDL cholesterol from oxidation, Vitamin C, and antioxidants that benefits the heart. It has high levels of Vitamin A that can help prevent cataracts. It is also rich in lycopene an antioxidant that helps prevent male infertility, osteoporosis, skin cancer, diminish varicose vein, eye disease, prostate, breast and endometrial cancers. Apricots may be eaten dried, fresh, or mixed in a fruit stew for desert.

Breadfruit- Is often referred to in the Caribbean as one of the staple “provisions.” That which are comprised of plantain, cassava, yucca, sweet potato, potatoes etc. Originally from the southeast asian region, a breadfruit tree can yield up to 200 or more grapefruit sized fruits each season. Breadfruit is high in dietary fiber which can help keep colon health at it’s optimum, as well as potassium which helps in muscle contraction and in maintaining the bodies' cell electrolyte levels balanced. Potassium is essential in sending nerve impulses as well as releasing energy from protein, fat and carbs during metabolism.

Banana - A global favorite from infants to those who enjoy the ripe old age of longevity. Bananas are sweet and creamy and come in their own yellow jackets. It is packed with Potassium. A mineral that is essential in maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function; thus preventing high blood pressure and offers protection against atherosclerosis. They have antacid effects that helps soothe discomforts caused by stomach ulcer, as well as the ability to counteract increased urinary calcium loss caused by diets high in salt. It helps prevent degenerative eye problems as well as assist in normal bowel movement. Plantain, a more starchy variety of this fruit may be included in preparing savory dishes and are popular in the West Indies. Sweet plantain apparently can increase libido and is referred to in the islands as honeymoon fruit.
