If It Was Just Luck...It Must Be God

Getting off the Number 6 train at Canal St. in New York City, Joan, surveyed the shortest way to the Chinese Supermarket.  She decided to stay on the left side of the street.  A shorter straight line to the slightly longer veering right side of the street.  It was freezing cold and she wants to get her shopping done as soon as possible and go home.

Crossing Baxter Street, she figured she was a couple of blocks away from her destination.  Her teeth almost begun to chatter.  She dug her hands deep into her pocket to warm them up.  When all of a sudden, she felt tugs on her sleeve and a rather excited chatter in Chinese.  She stopped and realized it was Neng the lady from the reflexology clinic she used to go to a year ago.  She was very excited, very happy and continued her chatter in Chinese.  Joan realized she was asking her to come with her.  She followed her and got a bit concerned to find herself in a small alley way and then through a small courtyard.  Then Neng opened the door to a  tiny two room apartment.  In the small living room, sat her husband a very good Reflexologist and their eight year old son.  Both Neng and her husband spoke very little English.  But through her son, Joan learned that they are on their own now, and this tiny two room apartment is now their own converted private Reflexology Clinic.  Cold and tired, Joan decided to have a reflexology treatment.

Later through their son, Neng said that they did not have an income for the past six months since they started their own business.  "I am lucky I saw you.  At first I noticed your beautiful beret.  Then I realized it was you."  She said excitedly.  Then her eight year old son said.  "We did not have any money today.  Now we have an income."  Joan looked at him in the eyes and said, "Isn't God wonderful?  The little boy looked back at her and without a hint of expression in his face answered back. "No, it was just luck."

Joan did not say any more.  She helped the little boy with her math homework thinking, the Lord you do not know has blessed you today.

Joan prayed that they will get to know Jesus.  The God who promised to give us ALL things if we seek Him first.
